This reroute is estimated to cost the city $300,000 plus thousands of dollars of remediation credits. The reroute can be avoided by simply moving the proposed gardens just 40 or 50 feet to the east, allowing the existing trail to remain open.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3417423202932411365.post-29725357840109871372013-08-14T13:18:44.338-05:002013-08-14T13:18:44.338-05:00I switched back to normal comments after being unh...I switched back to normal comments after being unhappy with the features(or lack thereof) of Google+ commenting. Here is the comment referenced in the updates and originally left via Google+:

Angie Albright 2 days ago - Shared publicly

Changing the entire structure, funding, and nature of a private, nonprofit organization is unwieldy and not necessarily in the public's best interest. That is simply not a realistic goal. There is no recommendation, nor has there ever been, that any of the Lake Fayetteville trails go away.

The fencing around the Garden is not entirely about fee and non-fee issues. It's also about safety for the thousands of children who participate in our programs and about the wildlife and humans who harm the Garden in some way.

A new plan will emerge, probably sometime this fall. Wait and see what the plan is before deciding what's best. Also, any plan proposed has to be approved by several layers of city government so it will take quite a while.
